This is a hand-sewn journal with Indigo covers. I made the Indigo cloth in a workshop with Gasali Onireke Adeyemo at Snow Farm Art Camp last summer. The pattern was made with a stencil and the process is called Adire. One creates the design with cassava paste (also called yucca). I backed the fabric with rice paper to make book cloth for these covers. Inside cover end sheet is a thick white paper. There are 112 blank pages of pastel Canson artist paper. This is a versatile dual-surfaced paper. The heavier texture side is good for pastels and other broad media and the reverse side is a lighter texture for soft pencil. SIZE is 5." square.
